A 24 year old self-proclaimed prophet set himself, 21 congregants, and their church building on fire on Tuesday evening while trying to demonstrate what Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego did in the Old Testament.
Prophet Simangaliso Mncwabe, who runs a church [House of Miracles] with over a hundred and fifty members in Ngodini, Mpumalanga; was preaching about the 3 warriors of the Old Testament in an evening service and then finished off with a demonstration, which did not go so well.
book of Daniel in the Old Testament reveals that after Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to bow down to the golden image, King Nebuchadnezzar threw them into a blazing furnace, but they did not burn, as God was with them.
Prophet Simangaliso assured his congregants that miracles still happen today, and they will see them happening in his church, as the name of the church says.
As the crown cheered, he began pouring petrol on himself and set himself ablaze. After realizing that he is actually burning, the prophet started screaming for help and some of the people in attendance attempted to help him, but they unfortunately also caught fire.
In less than 3 minutes, about people 12 people were on fire. The carpet on the pulpit floor also caught and spread the fire through the entire building. In less than 30 minutes, the prophet and 21 of his members were tuned into ashes and were declared dead on the spot. About 15 people sustained 3rd degree burns and were rushed to hospital.
Those who managed to escape stated that they have never seen anything like this in their lives. They promised to never allow anyone to attempt to perform a miracle like this in front of them again.
